Face Lift Surgery London
Our Chief Surgeon Mr Rajan Uppal specializes in short scar facelifts as well as traditional SMAS facelifts. The aim is to achieve natural results and avoid the 'operated-on' look.
There are a number of techniques used to perform a facelift but all involves a procedure to tighten the muscles and skin around your face and neck.
The incision is made in front of the ear, inside the ear, and then extends behind the ear by the earlobe. The skin, fat, and muscle are separated, lifted and then re-draped to a more youthful-appearing position. Often times, the fat and muscle are sutured in place to prevent premature descent. Mr Uppal is an expert in the deep plane face lift, SMAS lift, and other advanced facelift surgery techniques. Extra care is taken in suturing the incision to minimize the scar, rendering it virtually invisible after the initial healing period. The different options will be discussed at your consultation.
Face lift surgery is performed on an under general anaesthetic and usually takes 2 to 4 hours. Stitches are removed in 7 to 10 days. Most patients return to work after 2 weeks.

Facelift surgery can improve confidence and create a more youthful appearance of the face and eyes when combined with eye bag removal (blepharoplasty).
Mid Face Lift....
For younger patients a full facelift is not required. This is an important distinction as younger patients can avoid the longer scars associated with the traditional facelift. The midface is the area around the cheeks and nose that lies below the eyes. It can sag with time and can be lifted by using a scar hidden under the eyelids.
Some patients have a lot of lines on their forehead which are not improved by Botox or Restylane - these are often young patients who will benefit from an Endotine Brow lift. This makes the forehead look younger by removing all the wrinkles, without the 'pulled' look seen with too much Botox or a bad facelift. It is performed with you asleep using small 1 cm incisions hidden in the hairline. It gives results that last for at least 10 years.
Mini-Neck Lift....
Some patients do not want to go through a major procedure and would prefer a simple procedure to correct their neck. This is possible under local anaesthetic and takes about 45 minutes. Patients go home the same day. The scar is hidden under the chin and will reduce the ‘crepe’ paper look that can be embarrassing as time goes on. Please call for advice regarding this procedure.
Chin Surgery....
Reducing the size of the chin can make a big difference to how we see ourselves. Others will also notice a dramatic improvement in the shape of the face. Often they cannot work out exactly what has been done but they will compliment you on how good you look. Reducing a large chin is a simple procedure with you asleep. It takes about 45 minutes to do and patients go home the same day. The area is numb so there is minimal pain with this. Recovery usually takes a few days. If you have a 'weak' chin that is not in balance with your face then a small implant can be inserted in the same way as a day case procedure. There are no visible scars with these procedures which are called Genioplasty as they are all done from inside the mouth.
All operations carry risks as well as benefits.
